The site
Independent journalism and practical guides on surveillance, privacy, and digital rights. No tracking ads and no data harvesting. The site is funded by reader donations, disclosed affiliate links, and contextual sponsorships that load no third-party scripts and share no reader data. Every central claim is checked against a primary source before it publishes.
Audience
Measured with self-hosted, first-party analytics over the 30 days to 2026-09-22: about 44,000 pageviews and about 6,000 visitors. Search traffic arrives mainly through DuckDuckGo and Bing. Readers come for practical privacy guides and comparisons.
No other audience figures are offered, because no other figures are collected: the analytics are cookieless and hold no personal data (see the privacy approach).
Format
- One slot per page. A single contextual slot, placed after the article body and never inside article text.
- Chosen by topic, never by reader. A sponsorship runs on a section or topic (for example, the privacy guides), so every reader of that page sees the same thing.
- Static image plus a plain link. One image up to 600 by 150 pixels (PNG, JPEG or WebP, under 100 KB), served from this site, and one plain link marked
rel="sponsored noopener". - No scripts, no tracking, no reader data. Nothing loads from a sponsor's servers. No pixels, no cookies, no fingerprinting, and no reader data is shared with the sponsor.
- Always labelled. Every slot carries the label "Sponsor".
- Not everywhere. Sponsorships never appear on the home page or on the tracker and scoreboard pages the site maintains as reference material.
- No influence on coverage. Sponsors do not see copy before it publishes, cannot buy a review, a rating or a placement in a comparison, and a sponsorship ends before a word of coverage changes.
What is declined
- Tracking, advertising-technology, data-broker or fingerprinting vendors.
- Any product the site rates Low trust in its trust ratings.
- Crypto casinos and gambling offers.
- Surveillance vendors, including sellers of spyware, stalkerware, facial recognition or license-plate reading to police or employers.
